Welcome to the Montagu Pilates Studio
Hello and welcome to the Montagu Pilates Studio. We offer private equipment led Pilates classes and also group mat classes in our studio in Montagu. Pilates is a wonderful way to exercise, often referred to as “the thinking person’s exercise” because its important to understand what you are doing and why you are doing it. It’s very much a science and to do it properly the body should be in the correct position and for this reason as instructors we are required to guide our clients. There is no spiritual or religious aspects to this form of exercise.
"Pilates" devised by Joseph Pilates produced extraordinary results in the first World War and later in rehabilitation of injured dancers and sportsmen. Many top class athletes and performers do Pilates classes to develop a competitive edge.
It restores body alignment and increases muscular strength. You will become more conscious of your body. You will become suppler and learn to stretch correctly. Special attention is given to breathing. The Pilates method is becoming increasingly popular globally as people discover its benefits. Although not a gut wrenching cardio fitness workout it demands extreme focus and is always challenging. Young and old workout according to their individual level of strength.
At The Montagu Pilates Studio we offer equipment led training devised by Joseph Pilates himself and used in his Studio on 5th Avenue New York. This equipment consists of the Reformer, Cadillac, Wunda chair, Spine corrector and the Ped-o-pull. The equipment classes are private one on one training session however our Mat classes are group classes of no more than 5 clients at a time.
